Benjamin Castor Blessings For Ben

First post: Nov 13, 2016 Latest post: Mar 30, 2017
Benjamin is an answered prayer to two small children who desperately asked God for a baby brother.  Born on May 26, 2015 weighing in at a whopping 10 lbs 8 oz he continues to fill our hearts everyday with joy, love and completeness. Ben (or as his big brother likes to call him "bean") is the unexpected blessing that I never knew was missing from my heart.  He completes our family.  November 2, 2016 is a day that will always leave a scar on my heart.  My sweet baby boy was diagnosed with brain cancer.  Ben starting having seizures shortly after his first birthday.  He saw a neurologist late September and we  expressed concerns about the possibility of a tumor. After examining Ben the doctor said that he didn't think a tumor was the cause of the seizures and so he ordered an EEG for the following week.  Took about 9 days to get the results for the EEG and were told it was abnormal and they put him on Keppra. Jesse and I decided to switch doctors and took Ben to Peyton Mannings Children's Hospital for a second opinion. Our new neurologist didn't think a tumor would be causing the seizures. We asked for a MRI (for peace of mind).  With a still sedated, upset, crying toddler in the backseat on our way home from the MRI is when I got the phone call. Our 18 month old has astrocytoma brain cancer in his left temporal lobe. This is Ben's story. And this is the beginning of our journey with cancer.
