Blake Bollen Blake Bollen

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
At 3:30PM on Wednesday, July 18th, Blake, Brooke and their cousins went to Emerald Bay for  a fun day at the beach.  Blake and one of his cousins were walking on the rocks on the south end which is commonly used and where they had walked dozens of times.  Without cause, a boulder became dislodged and fell onto Blake's arm, severing it severely.  He then fell back and his leg got stuck in a rock leaving him unable to escape.  Because of his precarious location, it took forty minutes until emergency responders were able to free him using extrication airbags that are  usually used to lift cars off of people.  He was then airlifted to UCI with  devastating injuries to his right arm as well as injuries to his leg.  He is in a medically-induced coma for 2-3 days and will have another surgery on his arm today.  At this point, it is unknown if they will be able to save his arm.  It will be a process and I will keep you updated.  Prayers to the Adams/ Bollen families.
