On June 26, Billy had a Dr. appointment to address some extreme edema and shortness of breath for which he had seen the Dr. earlier in the week. I had a hard time getting him in the pickup, so when we arrived at the Dr's office, I enlisted the help of the nurses to get him unloaded. Upon seeing his condition, they choose to take his vitals while he was still in the truck. The Dr. was at lunch and expected at any time. He did arrive while the nurses were working in the parking lot. He cameover and told us that, the previous day, which was his day of, he was reviewing Billy's test results from Monday and there were some things he didn't like. He sent us directly to the emergency room.
The ER staff began running more tests, among which was a CAT scan. It showed a spot on the kidney. Delta hospital doesn't have an urologist on staff, so they sent him to St. Mary's in Grand Junction via ambulance.
They began running more tests and discovered that he has pulmonary hypertension, which most likely is the source of most of the edema. On July 2 they got results from a biopsy of the lymph node near the kidney and found he has metastatic urothelial cancer.
