On Monday September 28th, our dear friend, colleague, teacher,  guru Billy Mallon suffered a hemorrhagic thalamic stroke.  This site will update you to his progress. Billy is a world-renowned and loved Emergency Clinician, educator, teacher and humanitarian. Thousands of people want to know his condition and progress. This site will be a place to get your updates as it is too much for one person, even a small army of people to keep up with all the inquiries and well wishers.

In classic Billy style, he made the diagnosis before it progressed too far and called 911. By the time the ambulance arrived he was no longer able to speak or move his right side. He was transported to Stony Brook Hospital where he works part time in the ED. As you can imagine, it was quite an emotional time for the many doctors and nurses of the hospital that love them some Mallon.

He was admitted to the ICU, started on antihypertensives to control his blood pressure, with Rolando Valenzuela and Peter Viccellio at his side. Jan immediately flew to New York and was with him by late afternoon. He had a dense right hemiplegia and aphasia but was otherwise stable.
