Welcome to Bill's CaringBridge site.  Judy and I want to keep everyone informed of his health, since he was admitted to the hospital on Saturday, February 25.  The initial problem was a urinary tract infection (UTI).  Unfortunately, several days after he entered the hospital, he contracted pneumonia which is now being treated aggressively.  The doctors and nurses are wonderful, and they are providing excellent care.  They monitor his oxygen and heart rate constantly.  Bill is on oxygen now, because of his diminished lung capacity.  His blood is drawn several times a day to monitor his blood gases.  Chest x-rays are done frequently, to monitor the progress of the pneumonia.  On Thursday, March 2, they performed a CT scan, because they were worried that he might have a pulmonary embolism (PE), or blood clot in the lung.  We were pleased to learn that there is no PE.  As of today (March 5), the best case scenario is that if Bill responds to the treatment and is getting better, he may be released to a rehabilitation facility toward the end of the week.   Judy and I (Diane) will do our best to keep you all updated.  Please send us all your prayers and well wishes for Bill's recovery.
