Bill Bollinger Bill's Cancer Treatment

First post: Jun 13, 2018 Latest post: Dec 13, 2018
On June 12th, my cousin and best friend, Bill, received a shocking and unexpected diagnosis of cancer, at the age of 30.

Bill has spent the last 4 weeks in pain and abdominal discomfort . After many doctors appointments and tests, Bill was diagnosed with Malignant Neoplasm in the groin region, which doctors believe has since spread to his abdominal lymph nodes.

Bill's surgery is scheduled on Thursday, June 14th at Maple Grove Hospital for removal of the cancer-affected areas. In the coming weeks we hope to have a clearer picture of Bill's therapy options and overall prognosis, whether or not it involves additional medical procedures, medications, or chemotherapy.

Obviously this has been difficult news for Bill and our entire family. As his cousin, I am trying to help ease any burden on Bill and his immediate family by setting up a Caring Bridge page to raise funds for his upcoming medical bills. This page will also serve as a hub for his journey through therapy, his prognosis updates, and for friends/family to leave words of encouragement :)

As most of us know, treatment for cancer is not cheap. Bill will need all the support he can get throughout this. I have put a placeholder amount of $20,000 USD to help cover Bill's incoming medical expenses. As of right now, said expenses have not yet begun to accumulate. The amount of $20,000 is a rough estimate.

Any and all donations will be used solely for the purpose of alleviating Bill's financial burden throughout his cancer journey. This includes charges incurred for Bill's hospital stays, any surgeries, procedures, therapies, and follow-ups related to his cancer treatment, as well as funds to assist with Bill's monthly rent and car payments. We are hoping to meet our goal of $20,000 by late summer, depending on his prognosis and treatment plan.

Even if you are unable to donate to his medical relief fund, there are still other ways to make a big difference in Billy's life. Words of encouragement/verbal support, planned visits and outings, small errands, and little gifts or supplies are appreciated.

I will be looking into other means of financial assistance through cancer organizations such as: Lymphoma Foundation of America, American Cancer Society, CancerCare, Cancer Support Community, and Livestrong.

Your love and support means the world to Billy and our family during this time.

With Gratitude,
Leilani
