Bill Owens is known by so many different names - husband, dad, Bud, Grandpa, Chief and friend. He has certainly never met a stranger. We are hoping this page will help bring everyone together to support Bill as he begins his journey fighting the blood cancer Multiple Myeloma.
Bill was not feeling well on Christmas Eve and it got worse the next day, we ended up rushing him to the hospital on Christmas with confusion, failing kidneys and pain. We have now learned that he has Multiple Myeloma, a blood cancer. He has bone lesions throughout his body and a mass near his hip .From what we can tell based on his calcium blood tests and X-rays he had done in November from his PCP this has all started fairly recently, but done some damage significant damage to his bones and kidneys. The FDA has released six new drugs for this cancer last year, which is great news. So we all have a great deal of hope. The treatments will be a chemo shot and pill cocktail along with large dose steroids and anti vitals. Lots for all of us to take in. Bill is now home with Sue and her two broken feet.
Bill took the first treatment ok. He needs to be very careful because his bones are more prone to breakage. He also now has a compromised immune system. But he is hoping to continue seeing his friends at the Plex for breakfast and his firehouse coffees as long as he is feeling up to it. If you can help with rides during the day if needed, please email murmur@fuse.net - Margaret Owens Rieger

Bill means so much to so many people but I know to his family he is our everything. It means a great deal to all of us to see so many people rallying around him and us. To feel all of that positive energy and laughter can only give us hope. Thank you for your continued prayers and good wishes.
