Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. Unfortunately Bill is in Via Christi ICU with very serious lung problems. He has been getting progressively more short of breath for the last few weeks. I thought he needed to exercise and walk more! But that wasn't what was going on. I was in Annapolis with my daughter Denise while she underwent a mastectomy. (She is doing much better now, the lymph nodes came back clear!) Anyway, Kathryn and Earl got him to the ER on Monday evening, August 22. I got home the next day and have been with him since. The unfortunate thing is his lungs have always been weak and he has fibrosis and scaring in both lungs. Now they have filled up with fluid. Dr Short is taking really good care of him, he initially said there wasn't much he could do to alleviate the problem. But he has performed two bronchospy's with two more scheduled in the next two days. Dr Short said he was encouraged with the amount of fluid that he had removed. He is on oxygen all the time as well as using the "dreaded" CPAP for short periods of time to bring his oxygen level up to at least 85. Since he is still in ICU they discourage visitors, he wants to visit and of course that takes more air. We appreciate your concerns and prayers. I will keep you posted on his condition. We appreciate you all.
