Bill was diagnosed with esophageal cancer on October 19, 2014- two days prior to his mother's death.   This diagnoses followed many months of undiagnosed illness.  He started chemotherapy and radiation, followed by a major surgery in January 2015.  During this surgery they removed most of his esophagus and created a new one out of his stomach.  Many complications followed the surgery; the most major being a leak in his "new" esophagus that caused a serious infection in his spine.  Eventually Bill experienced a few months of remission, but nausea, dizziness and an inability to swallow followed and he was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer in July 2016.  Bill has four brain tumors, a tumor at the base of his spine and cancer in the spinal fluid.  He has been accepted into an experimental drug program and takes an injection of Keytruda every three weeks.  This drug is the same that has helped Jimmy Carter tremendously with his cancer and gives Bill much hope.

Thank you for visiting our site; prayers for strength and peace are welcome.   Side note: this website is journaled by his daughters, Michelle and Lindsey, and we have to comment that our Dad is ONE STRONG MAN!  His journey has been very difficult, but we are continuously inspired by his positive energy, faith in God, reflections of all of you (the stories are endless- and so much fun to hear!) and his spirit to live.  Love to all.  xoxoxox
