Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most.
Dad's journey began a little bit ago when he started searching for answers after finding he wasn't feeling well around last summer. He knew something wasn't right and began his search at a new general physician. After a LONG journey in Huntsville with little to no answers after 3 months after initially finding the cancer we decided he needed to head to Vanderbilt for a second opinion. Vanderbilt has been such a blessing since the first day we contacted them and has shown diligence and kindness in their care. Dad was officially diagnosed with Stage 3A Adenocarcinoma Lung Cancer. After consulting with a team of doctors at Vanderbilt, it has been determined that he will be BEST cared for by a regimen of Chemotherapy, Radiation, and ultimately, if he responds to treatment, surgery. Dad's treatment plan is for 5 weeks at Vanderbilt. He will have radiation daily and will have chemotherapy added throughout the week at varying intervals. Dad has been accepted into the Hope Lodge during the times when he has treatments. Mom will be spending as much time in Vanderbilt as possible but will have to return during the week for work. We have arranged for family and friends who can help be with dad during his treatments when mom has to be back in Huntsville for work. There will be a lot of traveling to and from Huntsville as we all work together to support and care for dad during this time.
We know that our God is "Jehovah Rophe" (The Lord, our healer). We are trusting in His plan and that he will heal dad completely! Dad has complete trust in his physicians at Vanderbilt and he is ready to begin his BATTLE! What a wonderful and blessed day it will be when we are all on the other side, the healed side, of the journey.
Bill Buccellato is known as many things: husband, father, Pops (grandfather), son, brother, friend, co-worker, but we will be able to add CANCER SURVIVOR to that list very soon!
I, Desiree Silvey (youngest daughter) will keep his page updated with pictures, posts, and information on what needs my parents might have. This will be a long journey, we most importantly ask for prayers! Any other way you may help would be appreciated and welcomed!
