Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support.

About 2-1/2 years ago Pete's Dr. decided that his blood cell count (CBC) was a little more weird than usual and referred him to a hematologist.  A bone marrow biopsy was performed and the opinion was that while it was not exactly normal it was not abnormal enough to form a diagnosis and that  while his blood counts were not standard, they were "his normal" .  So he kept Pete on a regular schedule of blood counts. This past winter, the abnormal blood activity began to escalate.  So we now have a diagnosis of CMML.

Treatment began today (6/4). Pete is receiving 5 straight days of chemo every 4 weeks with platelet and blood transfusions in between treatments.  The goal is to reduce his white blood cell count, increase his platelets and eradicate the immature cells that his bone marrow is producing which are crowding out the good stuff!

Pete is going to continue working his 2 days at the golf course and to play whenever possible!  Wish us well!!
