Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support, prayers, and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Here is a synopsis of what has been going on.

Beverly began showing symptoms of disorientation and confusion in January 2021. It began to increase in February and she also started showing some balance issues and dragging her left foot a little. We began to search for a neurologist in January and finally got an appointment for March 9. She was doing ok so we decided to make a planned trip to Phoenix to visit friends (and warm up a bit). Her mobility began to deteriorate and we headed home. As soon as we arrived we went to the St. Francis ER on Saturday Feb 27. The ER doc ordered a CT scan and after viewing the results, he told us there was a mass there, but would not confirm a tumor or cancer. He transferred her to Penrose Main because that is where the neurology teams are located. They admitted her to ICU so they could monitor her situation. On Sunday Feb 28 they performed an MRI on her head and a CT scan of her abdomen and pelvis area. At this writing on March 1, we have not yet talked with the neurosurgeon about the MRI, but he did say, based on the CT Scan, that the tumor looked aggressive and may have inflitrated the skull. A "lipoma" on her head has been hurting, and it now appears that is may be connected to the tumor. The MRI results will clarify that. I will update the journal when we have more information.
