2020 has been a terrible year for all of us with everything that is going on in the world and being cooped up in our homes for months.  Over the past few months, Betty has been experiencing some abdominal discomfort and has been tired a lot.  In early June she visited her physician who ordered some tests.  The tests confirmed that she had a mass on her pancreas.  With her family history, there was concern for pancreatic cancer.  Further tests were ordered and it was confirmed that she had stage 4 pancreatic cancer that had metastasized to her liver and possibly to her lungs.  She scheduled an appointment  with an oncologist from John's Hopkins on July 30, 2020.  He expressed optimism with the latest developments in treatment options that she could respond favorably to therapy and be more comfortable.  The decision was made to have her therapy done by an oncologist locally, with collaboration with her oncologist from John's Hopkins.  Her first dose of chemotherapy was administered on August 6, 2020.
