Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.

In the fall of 2017, Bettye was diagnosed with Non Small Cell Lung Cancer Stage 1.  After a PET scan confirmed that the cancer was contained in the lung, she had a lobectomy to remove the cancer and surrounding lymph nodes on November 9, 2017.  She required no chemotherapy or radiations treatments as the cancer was contained and the lymph nodes were clear.  Our family rejoiced when the doctor told her that she was cancer free on December 15, 2017.  She recovered slowly at home and was able to celebrate Christmas with family and friends.

On Tuesday, January, 23, 2018 she went to the Emergency Room complaining of severe back pain, and we were told that she had VERY agressive Stage IV cancer.  The doctor informed us that the cancer is in her lungs, liver, and bones; most notably the spinal column (the cause of the severe back pain).  She spent a few days in the hospital and was transferred to a nearby nursing facility where she remains.  After visiting a Radiation Specialist, we now believe the cancer has spread to her brain and we have noticed a rapid decline in her health in the last week.  She will have some important tests and appointments this week to determine how to proceed with her treatment and care from this point forward.

Bettye's favorite Bible verse is Mark 11:24, which reads: "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours."
We are asking for you to pray that Bettye will remain comfortable and without pain.  Please pray for the doctors who are in charge of her care that they have God's guidance in their decision making.  Please pray for her family and friends who love her so dearly.  Thank you for your support and encouragement.
