Betty Chastain

The family decided to create this page so that we could update friends and family on mom's ongoing battle without sharing it publicly on Facebook or other social media outlets.

Mom was diagnosed 7 years ago with Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma, Mycosis Fungoides.  In 2012-2013 she received chemo and radiation which put her into remission until 2016 when she began experiencing symptoms again.  This disease affects roughly 1,000 new people every year and there is no cure.  It is a Lymphoma of the skin - not to be confused with skin cancer.  It is not caused by exposure to the sun.

2017 was a rough year for mom - undergoing experimental chemo and not getting the results we were hoping for.  In late 2017 mom became very ill and needed to be hospitalized a few times to deal with infections.  She is currently being treated at Emory with full body radiation in an effort to get some relief from the tumors on her skin.

Please feel free to send messages here so that mom can read them and see and feel the love and support from her community!
