We all know Bernis Bergren as either mother, grandmother, family, or friend-- Just one amazing women with such a beautiful soul, whom we all love and adore.
Bernis went to the hospital March 31st after a fall. During her workup, it was discovered that her intestinal cancer had returned. The doctor's suggested that a stint be placed in her duodenum to help with complications the tumor was causing. During this surgery it was found the stint could not be placed without widening the opening. While trying to do this, her bowel was perforated. The surgeons reported that she may not make it through surgery. Miraculously she made it through surgery, however was experiencing a great deal of pain due to the tumor and surgery complications.
Bernis has chosen not to continue with progressive treatment/surgery to treat the cancer, but to move forward with palliative care. Bernis was transferred to hospice on Sunday April 10th.
Her family has decided to create this website to update those who love her, on her transition to be with the lord. It gives a place to ask for prayers, share beautiful memories and pictures, and give support to those who will grieve the loss of this amazing women.
