Bernie Wruble

This past Memorial Day our family gathered in Warren, VT for the weekend.  There, our father, Bernie Wruble, began having severe back pain.  We rushed him to the UVM Medical Center in Burlington, VT, and after lengthy evaluation discovered that he suffered a thoracic spinal cord hemorrhage - a very rare occurrence, and is paralyzed from the mid-chest down.

He is receiving care at the UVM Medical Center ICU/Neurology unit, with the entire immediate family at his bedside.  We expect that he will soon be transferred to Spaulding Rehab Center, a renowned neuro rehab facility in Boston. Dad’s long-term prognosis is uncertain. But those of you who know our father well will know that his fortitude, physical strength, and tenacity will serve him well as he recovers.

This CaringBridge site is a way for us to communicate updates on Dad's progress with you.  Dad and Jill, Justine, Vanessa, Alexis, Mattia and Austin will be buoyed by your thoughts, stories, and remembrances. We’ll let you know when he is up to phone calls, emails, and visits.

This will be a long haul — we’re so grateful for your support.

* Please note: we are not asking for donations. Feel free to donate to CaringBridge to support what they do of course.
