Ben Wilt

Welcome to Ben's CaringBridge webpage.  We've been at Children's so many time to treat Ben's cyclic vomiting syndrome but I've always been averse to public posts, pics of Ben in the er, in an ambulance, hooked up to machines, etc
But, I'm finally realizing that this will be part of Ben's life.  Many people ask me "What is cyclic vomiting syndrome? "  Well it's as unpleasant as it sounds.  Without any indication or trigger, Ben starts to vomit uncontrollably.   It happens about every 2 to 3 hours.  Outside of the throwing up, it has no medical association with a stomach virus.  We have no idea how to stop it, and it can last a day or a week. While he's always recovered,  he must be hospitalized immediately to prevent rapid dehydration and other very serious complications. Even though i know he has always gotten better, it is horrible to witness.  Each time he vomits, increases his pain. He hates it.  He's missed many special events  and is terribly isolated from his friends. The one thing that makes him feel good is knowing that people care.  Thus my decision to set this up.  If Ben had a fb page, I'd ask people to make fb posts.  Any kind words from friends are so appreciated.  So, if I'm sharing this with you, know that you are important to Ben.  Your kind words are gold.  Also, try to make it personal.  He doesn't get the thoughts and prayers concept.  No long notes are necessary and probably confusing.  So, if you can just take a minute or 2 to let him know you care, it will be so very appreciated.
