Ben Schwenneker

Mid morning of Saturday, May 15, 2021, Ben (Sr) was involved in a fire/explosion involving the wood furnace in their basement.  (There is no damage to the house) Linda was on the main floor of their home when it occurred.  She was able to give Ben  immediate help and get medical help on the way quickly.  Ben was alert and in tremendous pain when the paramedics  arrived.  They gave him pain meds immediately, induced a coma and intubated him.  He was then airlifted from our field to Regions Burn Center in St Paul, MN. Over 2/3 of his body has severe burns.  The most severe burns are on his chest and abdomen, but his arms, legs and back were affected also.   We are aware that he is getting the best possible medical care.  He has received numerous bedside procedures and is set for a surgery later today.   Will update more details later, but wanted to get this update out.  We are still trying to process all the information ourselves. Tanya and Larissa flew back today (Sunday am).   The rest of the family (Linda, Benjamin, Joe) are all together.  We have been overwhelmed and humbled by the outpouring of love, support, care and prayers we have received already.  Linda and the rest of the family are doing as expected.  We are thankful we can all be together during this time.  Many have asked how to help- prayers are always appreciated, simple snacks, meals and drinks would be helpful.  Right now the music barn (Osseo) seems to be the main 'headquarters' for family.  Any drop offs can be done there.  Also Rhonda Gearing (Osseo) can handle drop offs at their home also.  We are again reminded and comforted to know our Father's hand is over all.
