Benjamin Bruce Raudenbush came into our world as an early Thanksgiving surprise on November 12th after a night of preterm labor and an ambulance ride to Sioux Falls. He was born at 34 weeks 2 days and weighed a hefty 5 lbs 5 oz! Benjamin had an excellent first few days- only needing a little oxygen and extra time to grow in the NICU. However, on day 5-6 his platelet count drastically decreased for a reason his doctors could not figure out. Benjamin underwent test after test after test not indicating a solution while receiving transfusion after transfusion after transfusion to counteract what was happening in his precious little body.
On November 21 the doctors miraculously found Benjamin's lab work testing point to an extremely rare disorder called hemochromatosis. Ben's blood is depositing iron on his liver causing it to fail. Because Ben's liver is not able to do it's job, Ben could start to bleed uncontrollably at any time and the doctors will not able to stop it. Ben is in the midst of doctors figuring out a plan of care for this rare and highly fatal disorder. Through the night he received a 500cc transfusion of new fresh blood while doctors took out 500cc of toxic blood that is causing his liver to fail. Benjamin continues to receive platelets and blood products around the clock and his treatment plan is to be airlifted to a medical facility with liver transplant capabilities because he needs a new liver.

November 22- Today is a new day with new miracles. Benjamin is a fighter- his strength is supernatural and we are believing it to be the power of the Holy Spirit within him. His doctors are amazed at how well he his maintaining his breathing and heart rate despite the battle waging inside his body. We know this is the power of prayer and we ask for you to pray this mightiness continues to sustain him.
