Ben, our 21 year old son was having headaches and nausea off and on for several weeks. After a trip to the ER , a CT scan revealed that Ben has a growth on his brain. We were rushed to St. Joseph's medical center, and received wonderful care and attention for a week. Ben received a biopsy on his growth, which agreed with the MRI that he has a fairly large tumor, generically called Glioma Blastoma, or GBM.
We are currently at Children's Hospital in Seattle, which in my opinion is a beautiful Oasis planted in the middle of the city, staffed with angels, whose job is to care for little people from birth to 21 years.
Our journey here began with surgery on Ben's brain called a craniotomy. The fabulous surgeons successfully removed a significant amount of tumor. Ben has been transitioned out of the surgical ICU and into a recovery room with far less beeping machines, and all of the tubes and wires have been removed from Ben's body.
Our next step is helping Ben to get strong enough to maneuver around on his own through intensive physical therapy provided by Children's Hospital.
We are a little frightened but we feel blessed to be here, and we trust that God has a mighty miracle in store for Ben. Standby with us and see what God will do.
