Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most.  Benjamin and Muriel Sawatsky are retired missionaries who have spent their entire lives serving God-- wow, that is a dramatic simplification of two humble people who are-- an amazing husband and wife, terrific parents, superstar grandparents, and true gifts to the rest of us here on Earth.   Their hard work all over the world, literally, has made it a better place, brighter, more filled with love and hope, and far more Christian.  


--many of you know Muriel was diagnosed with an operable cancer in early 2015, she had surgery in February followed by radiation and chemotherapy-- that ended in September 2015.   By December it was clear she either still had cancer or it had returned.   Muriel elected to take another round of chemotherapy.   After some difficult rounds, she decided to stop the chemotherapy.    Now, home hospice has taken over her care.   

Many of you also know, Ben is in his eighth year with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.   Some days are certainly better than others, but he may be entering hospice care also in the next few months.   None of us know how much time we have on Earth, but the goal is to smile every day, to be as comfortable as possible, and count the many blessings God gives us each day.
