Ben Abercrombie is a fine young man who grew up in Hoover, Alabama and played football and baseball for Hoover High School.  Of course it was his dream to play football at the next level.  Ben was recruited to play football at Harvard University and worked very hard academically to earn admission and an academic scholarship to Harvard. Ben is very proud to be a member of the Harvard Crimson Football Team and worked his way into the playing rotation at Safety as a freshman.  Ben was playing in his first collegiate football game on Saturday, September 16, 2017, Harvard vs. Rhode Island.  During the 2nd quarter,  Ben was making a tackle on the sideline when he fell to the ground and did not get up.  Ben sustained a very serious neck injury.  He was rushed to Rhode Island hospital in Providence, Rhode Island where he had emergency surgery to repair a fracture and get the pressure off his spinal cord.   After he was stabilized, Ben was moved to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta for rehab. Ben returned home to Hoover, Alabama on January 8, 2018. Even though Ben  is currently on a ventilator and not able to move his arms and legs,  we are hopeful that will change and improve everyday as he heals.  He is a very brave young man and we have no doubt that he will make a strong recovery.
