Early Tuesday Morning June 26th Belinda went to the ER with symptoms of which she thought was gall bladder symptoms. Nausea, severe abdominal pain, vomiting and constipation. A CT scan without contrast was done and was found to have an intestinal blockage. She went home and did all the preps that she was told to do.
About 2:00 am June 30th Saturday morning returned to the ER, she had no relief and the pain was worse. Another CT scan was done this time with contrast. The CT scan showed that she had a mass in her colon. Doctors believed that this was cancer, which would not show on a scan without contrast. She was admitted into the hospital.
Sunday morning July 1st a colonoscopy prep was ordered thru her NG tube, but after several hours of receiving this prep and nothing coming out, a surgeon was called in. She was immediately sent to emergency surgery and the family was called in. Belinda was very sick and we were told that she should have been in surgery on Saturday. She was within 1 – 3 hours of her colon busting. This surgery was only preformed to relieve all this pressure and nothing else at this point. From her surgery she did have to have a double colostomy (sigmoid colectomy and mucous fistula).
Friday July 6th, A biopsy was done to see what type of cancer she has. Monday morning July 9th, Belinda was released from the hospital to go home and recover from her surgery. Before she left she did receive the result of her biopsy. The type of cancer is Colorectal adenocarcinoma. We have been told that the type of cancer she has is curable, but she will have to have radiation and chemotherapy.
Please know that all prayers, phone calls, cards and flowers from family, friends and co-workers have been very much appreciated. We know that this is all in God’s hands. Please continue your prayers for her healing. Also, as Belinda has her doctors appointments, we will continue to update her page as we get the information to keep everyone updated.
