Belen Boll Konesky Belen's Team

First post: Nov 6, 2016 Latest post: Dec 21, 2016
The first week of October Belen was diagnosed with stage III rectal cancer.  The next few weeks and months are going to be hard – chemo, radiation, surgery and chemo again – in all, almost a year of treatment. If you know Belen, you know she is fighting tooth and nail. Her love for her three-year old daughter, her family and friends and her love of all things football will help her fight to Kick Cancer’s Ass!

She has a brand new eating plan, needs to get rest, and she will work as much as treatment allows to keep paying those bills and to keep herself mentally busy.  Her treatment starts Monday, 11/7. It is aggressive with daily chemo and radiation. She is uncertain when the treatment will make her house-bound and in need of her friends and family to a greater extent. For now she could use help with transportation to her treatment. Please email Doreen Pollack at doreen.pollack@gmail.com if you can help out with driving her during the day, Monday - Friday.

We appreciate the many friends, family and colleagues who have offered to help. With the announcement of such news, there are countless offers of help. Belen will take you up on these generous offers.  There is a team of friends behind her coordinating rides to Mayo for her treatments,  coordinating meals (please ask before cooking - she is a a special food plan), and of course coordinating time for her daughter to just be a three-year old and play!  We will update her needs here almost daily.

You can leave a comment or offer to help below as Belen will read them all personally as long as she can.  Then we will be by her side reading them for her.

Please be sure to choose to receive email updates. There will be a lot taking place over the next year, and we know you’ll want to be there with her along the way.

Her big concern is financial.  Although she has insurance, the out of pocket cost of treating cancer and the loss of work that will inevitably happen, will create a huge financial burden on her and her family. We appreciate your willingness to help.  You can support her financially at her Go Fund Me page here - https://www.gofundme.com/belenboll

Much love from Belen and her family.
