Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Please continue to send positive vibes to Beckett as he fights this battle. It means so much to our family.
Our family was having the very BEST summer together, until Friday, July 30th. Our oldest son, Beckett (7), woke up a bit paler than usual so we decided to take him to the pediatrician thinking he may be dehydrated or possibly anemic (so thankful for our wonderful neighbors who convinced us to go). The pediatrician did some blood work and seemed pretty concerned, so we were rushed to CHOP. Things escalated very quickly and within a few short hours, Justin and I were walked into a private room by a team full of doctors, telling us that Beckett has cancer cells in his blood. He was admitted to CHOP oncology, and after many more tests, he was officially diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. There are not stages of Leukemia, like in other cancers, but there are risk levels. Unfortunately, Beckett's levels put him in the highest risk category. In just his first week, Beckett received 2 blood transfusions, 2 platelet transfusions, 2 spinal taps, a bone marrow biopsy, a CT scan, and three chemotherapy treatments. We have a very long road ahead of us. As you can imagine, this is a complete nightmare for our family. We are trying our best to process and navigate this new life. Beckett has a very intense treatment schedule for the next month, then we will know more about what treatments will look like for the remainder of this year. If all goes well, he could be out of this by the end of 2023. Thank you for all of the love and support we have already received. We are currently scared, angry, and very, very sad. Please keep our little boy in your thoughts and prayers, and if you can, please consider giving blood... it is saving his life!
