Welcome to my CaringBridge site! We've created it to keep our friends and family updated throughout this long journey. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most. Here is my story:
Back in August, I was out walking my dog Evie just like any other normal day when I discovered a lump in my left breast. Because of family history, I immediately made an appointment to go in and get mammogram. The result came back that everything was normal for my age so, at that time, I did not pursue any further testing. I was going to keep an eye on it and have it checked again when I went to my yearly exam with my gynecologist.
Well that time came around in March, my gynecologist recommended that I have an ultrasound to check it out again. A few days later, I have an ultrasound and they referred me to a breast specialist for further evaluation. I went to the breast specialist, ended up with needing a biopsy, and unfortunately that's when the bad news came. On April 13th, 2016, I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer. Since then, it has been a whirlwind of doctors appointments, scans, tests, consultations and everything in between. I have had another mammogram, an ultrasound, MRI, PET scan, blood work for genetics testings, a colposcopy, two biopsies, etc. It has been an exhausting couple weeks.
We are finally down to the last few appointments and steps. Chemotherapy starts on May 5th, 2016.
