Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most.

Wednesday, March 2 we discovered Jason had something legit happening with his recurring headaches and constant tiredness.  Late that afternoon, he was taken to Rapid City Regional Hospital where he was diagnosed with a frontal lobe brain tumor.  This started a week of whirlwind events.

We asked to receive a second opinion from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and by Sunday, we were in route!  Thanks to our family and friends who took over our rigorous schedule, allowing us to travel at a moment's notice to gain some insight on Jason's condition.

We were fortunate to be referred to Dr. Meyer, the chairman of neurosurgery at the Mayo Clinic.  He believes the tumor is a grade 3 glioma; however, he will not know until surgery.  The tumor has created cysts, which have created a barrier, making some areas easier to remove.  However, there is an area of concern near the middle cerebral artery.  There is a 50% chance of issues with speech and movement after surgery with a 15% chance of long term issues.  Dr. Meyer believes Jason will most likely need radiation and chemotherapy.  Also, he may face a long recovery.

Jason is scheduled for surgery March 21, 2016, time TBD with Dr. Meyer.  We will keep this site updated as we learn more information on Jason's condition, etc.
