Barry was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer in June, 2015.  He had surgery to remove the primary tumor in the small colon and liver surgery to remove spots that had matastisized to the liver.  He completed 6 months of chemo and  we enjoyed two wonderful months in Florida where Barry started to regain his strength and endurance.  When we got home in April we celebrated that the scan showed no evidence of cancer.  It had been a tough struggle but the positive result made it worth it.  We planned an incredible trip to the western coast and spent a wonderful month exploring Washington, Oregon and Northern California.  It was the trip of a lifetime!
In early July he had his 3 month scan and it showed that the cancer had returned.  He was ready for fight number two and started chemo later that month.  After 6 weeks of treatment a CT scan showed that the cancer had continued to spread in spite of the chemo.  It has be an uphill battle ever since.  They tried another new mixture of chemo drugs but the cancer continued.  The usual side effects started to take a bigger toll and Barry grew weaker and thinner.  A couple of weeks ago he added a radiation procedure to the mix.  His body is just tired. 
He spent Monday night in the hospital due to some bleeding somewhere in his gut.  They never found the source but it had stopped so we went home.    By Friday morning his body just crashed.  He was admitted to the hospital a very sick guy -  dehydrated and weak.  They had difficulty stabilizing his blood pressure, has pneumonia, and possibly another infection.  He is in ICU - on many drugs to support him and just not doing very well.  It is going to be a struggle to get through this crisis.
