Barb's New Hip

Barb has been diagnosed with fast-moving osteoarthritis in both of her hips. On January 17, she will be having a full anterior approach hip replacement on her left side. The talented team from Twin Cities Orthopedics will be doing the surgery, which will take about 2-3 hours and will take place at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.
The recovery time from this type of surgery is anywhere from four to eight weeks. Her daughter Molly will be with her at the hospital on the 17th and the 18th (Barb will have to stay overnight at least one night). Her son Matt and daughter-in-law Sarah will be coming to Minnesota from Colorado on the 17th and between the three of them, will provide round the clock care for Barb for at least three weeks, if not longer.
Barb is anxious to get the surgery done, as it is a scary thing to plan for and undergo such an intense surgery. She is looking forward to having her chronic hip pain decreased and hopefully fully eliminated on the left side! She is excited to get back to her normal lifestyle after the recovery period.
This page will be monitored and maintained by her children, and all messages and words of love and encouragement will be passed along to Barb directly until she feels well enough to check the site herself! If you would like to help in any way, please contact us via this site so that we can coordinate appropriately.
