Welcome to Barb Ogle's CaringBridge site! We've created it to keep friends and family updated. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most.

As you may already know, Barb was diagnosed with interstitial lung disease/hypersensitivity pneumitis fifteen years ago -- the result of working in a "sick" building in St. Paul, MN for five years in the 1970s. Her disease progressed slowly for over a decade, but she has declined markedly over the past year. In January 2015, she underwent a battery of tests at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN to evaluate her condition and determine if she was a candidate for a lung transplant. While she was approved for a transplant, she decided against the Mayo's program because they were undergoing significant restructuring. That led her to the University of Minnesota, which has a thriving program, great doctors, and a wonderful support team.

Another round of testing at the U took place in late 2015, and she was put on the transplant list in January 2016. After a long year of waiting, Barb had her lung transplant in January 2017! She is currently recovering. Please feel free to sign up for CaringBridge updates from Barb, her sister Nancy, and niece Katie. You can also leave well wishes, which Barb will be able to see and enjoy.
