Welcome to our CaringBridge website for Barb. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your prayers, support, and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. In February of this year, Barb was diagnosed with Stage 4 CLL Leukemia. Since then she has been working with doctors to develop a treatment plan. In the midst of this, she began experiencing fatigue in the time since her diagnosis. Things escalated on Monday evening, March 28th, when she began experiencing several complications due to the Leukemia. Low blood pressure and brain fog were the things that prompted John to take her to the hospital on Tuesday morning, March 29th. Upon arrival to the hospital, she was admitted, due to CCL Leukemia complications. Upon admission, it was discovered that she has anemia. Throughout the night, her condition worsened as she became weaker and unresponsive to her name. In the wee hours of the morning, she was moved to the ICU. On Wednesday morning, she was then intubated due to her fatigue and weakness. She received blood transfusions to help combat the anemia. In the midst of this, lactic acidosis and acute kidney failure followed. Since admission to the ICU, she has received chemo treatments, to which she has been responding well. She has been doing 'sedation vacations' and has been responding well to those also.
