Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated. We appreciate your outpouring of love and support during this time when it matters most.
We have been presented with a challenging week. On Monday, June 27, dad took mom to the doctor where they performed some preliminary blood work because mom was not feeling well. After the blood results, she was sent to St. Mary’s hospital and was admitted on Monday night. The results of the blood work given on Tuesday, June 28, were conclusive with the diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia, AML. The staff at St. Mary’s hospital was tremendous. On Wednesday she was transferred to Karmanos Cancer Institute where she began chemotherapy treatment Wednesday night. The medical team at Karmanos is phenomenal.

Holly arrived in Michigan on Thursday morning. On Thursday evening they moved mom to the ICU because she was having difficulty breathing. Once in ICU, there was a need to intubate her because her lungs were working too hard. Of course, mom wanted nothing to do with ventilator, but she finally gave in knowing it was best for her. She has been presented with several challenges while in the ICU, and dad and Holly are there with her every step of the way.

As of today, July 2, the chemo is working as her white blood cell counts are going down, but other challenging conditions keep arising. The medical staff is watching her closely and she will remain on the ventilator until she is able to breathe on her own. The chemo will also continue for the next several days.

We truly appreciate the outpouring of love for our mom. God’s got her in the palm of His hands, and we all continue to pray for her recovery. We know she is a fighter and will need every bit of prayer and support we have to offer her. We will keep updates through CaringBridge; please pass this website along to any other family and friends.

Matthew 19:26  And looking at them Jesus said to them, “With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
