Barbara Plummer

This catastrophic emergency is precipitated by a diagnosis of Breast Cancer with metastasis to lymph nodes. Barb currently faces reduced employment and loss of income and that may become total for periods during treatment when she is unable to work at all.  She is On the Road to Health, AND needs our support to get there.

Barbara has been diagnosed with a large mass in her right breast and tumors in 3 lymph nodes (stage II B), and she faces an arduous program of treatment starting with 6 months of Chemotherapy, followed by Surgery, Radiation and Hormone Suppression Therapy to eradicate the existing cancer and prevent further metastasis to other parts of her body or any recurrence.  The lengthy discovery and diagnosis process began in early December and has included mammography and ultrasound, ultrasound-guided biopsy, PET scan, multiple appointments with her oncologist for diagnosis and treatment plan, the installation of an infusion port under the skin for use during IV chemo treatment, all leading up to her first chemo session this past Thursday, January 18th.

Barb needs help both in direct support around transportation to appointments and meals and housekeeping when she's feeling the full brunt of her chemo, and in the form of financial contributions.  All of these appointments have already had an impact in reducing her work schedule, and she hasn't even begun to feel the physical side effects of the chemo treatments. Barbara has been working two part-time jobs for some time with a fluctuating schedule ranging from 30 to well over 50 hours a week, but both employers are already expressing some impatience with her recent need to cancel some of her shifts. Barb is very worried about her continued employment and the shortfall of income she requires to live on. (She is not eligible for unemployment given the part-time/at will definition of her jobs; disability options will be explored, and don't appear promising.)  Treatment will be so lengthy - in excess of nine months - and loss of income has been immediate, so Barb is asking for donations at this time because her own funds are nearly depleted.  Your donations are requested and very welcome as are pledges for monthly recurring support over the next 9 months.  You can donate via her fundraising site at: https://www.youcaring.com/barbaralplummer-1074137 .

This site is best formatted for scheduling that direct support in the for  of supportive and helpful visits or outings, support in transporting her to and from (and hopefully keeping her company during) her sometimes lengthy chemo infusion and other doctor appointments.  See the Helpful Tasks tab and calendar button below! And Thanks for supporting Barb on her Road to Health!!
