It was Friday, November 26th. Barbara and Marie were enjoying a brisk morning at the dog park with their dogs when a stranger's 150-pound pitbull-lab-mix barreled full speed into Barbara. She flew off her feet and landed hard on the ground. In that one incredibly unlucky moment, Barbara's life changed. Marie called 911, a family member came for the dogs, and she was headed to the hospital in immense pain. Barbara's wrist, leg, and knee joint on her right side were all broken. Barbara had a 4 hour surgery the next morning to repair her fractured wrist. Her leg was stabilized in preparation for multiple upcoming reconstructive surgeries. She will be in the hospital for at least 10 days before transferring to an inpatient trauma rehabilitation facility for intensive physical therapy. Eventually she will get to go home, where she will continue to need home care and therapy. To say the least, she will be disabled for months to come.

We all know what a trooper Barbara is. She will get through this. It sure sucks right now though! This webpage is here to keep her friends and family informed of her progress, and give us all a place to share encouragement and hope. Please visit often. Read her story and leave her a message.
