We have started a CaringBridge site to consolidate the updates that we have been sending out via email over the months. This site will remain a place to communicate with those who care about Barbara Brooke and who want to stay informed of her journey.  Please check the "Journal" section for the archive of updates as well as for future messages.

On October 28th, 2016 (David's 30th birthday) our mom, Barbara Brooke, was unexpectedly diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer that had already metastasized to her brain in 15 places. At the time of diagnosis, she was not a candidate for treatment of any kind and was told that she had 2-6 weeks to live. Luckily, she later learned that she was a rare match for a newer targeted gene therapy with a strong record of reducing and/or eliminating cancer cells in both the brain and body, and that changed everything. So here we are, nearly 10 months later, miraculously, to say the least. There have been many complications along the way, and we are still in the thick of things, both individually and collectively, but the diagnostic pendulum continues to swing and we are all holding on tight to the ride...
