Bailey Gillespie, who has never been a hospital patient during our 52 years of marriage, has just been diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma (liver cancer). The diagnosis is still needing further clarification with possibility of other sites from which this originated. We are now in the process of further testing and a final decision by the Tumor Board at LLUMC. Bailey is courageously fighting fevers and chills and dealing with a sense of fragility, which he has never experienced before; however, his courage is strong, his faith in God is focused and his family is strongly supporting. Fortunately, Shannon and Tim and their families live close enough so that they are a very present strength for us as we all deal with this new issue. And so, the journey begins, not the one we had planned but the one we have been given. It is an exercise in faith and trust.
