Elaina Claire Griffin was born on July 6, 2017 at 1:20 AM at 23 weeks, 4 days gestation. She weighed 1 lb 3.5 oz and was 11.5 inches long. Elaina is currently in the NICU at Brigham and Women's Hospital where she is cared for around the clock in a private room with a great view of Boston. She has a great team of doctors and nurses working to keep her healthy and help her grow. Elaina spends 99.9% of her time in an isolette that looks and functions much like a space ship. It maintains a temperature of approximately 98 degrees and is 80% humid - this is to simulate the womb as much as possible and to help protect Elaina's skin.
Elaina has a long road ahead of her in the NICU. We will add journal entries below with updates. Even though is tiny, Elaina has developed a feisty personality and is a fighter. We ask that you keep her in your thoughts over the next couple of months.
