Baby O’B

Life is a winding path that conceals the unexpected around each impending bend. As you travel the path of life and reveal these events, there’s no telling what will come next. Some of these surprises are welcome, while others are unfavorable. The tests come when these less-than-ideal situations present themselves and we’re forced to navigate our new course. 

Shortly after learning that we were having a son, we were told that there could be an issue with his heart. Nothing was conclusive, but additional tests were ordered. After weeks of uncertainty it was finally determined that Baby O’B will need heart surgery shortly after being born. Extreme anticipation quickly turned to sadness, fear, and doubt. The weeks after learning of our son’s condition were extremely difficult. Every time we thought about him it was hard to hold it together, knowing what he would be going through during his first months in the world. And although this unanticipated circumstance felt like it would consume us, we knew that together we could navigate our new path. 

We’ve since been able to hold a positive mindset that has helped us to actually enjoy our last few months of being pregnant. While the forthcoming battle is always on our minds, we’ve enjoyed every kick, ultrasound, and moment just anticipating our son being here with us. Except for this heart condition he is developing normally, and at his last weigh-in he was well over 5-lbs, so he’s on his way to being good sized baby! We know the hard times are on the way, but we’re confident in our son’s ability to recover quickly. 

We can’t wait to meet our son and to help him through each step in his life’s journey. We know it will be difficult at times, but we’re also confident that he will lead a long and fruitful life. We’ll continue to provide updates on Baby O’B throughout these first few months via this website. We appreciate the love and support from friends and family and we can’t wait for all of you to meet our little guy!
