We are very grateful and amazed by another pregnancy.  Our God is a God of miracles and I believe each child is a little miracle.  First of all, it is a boy!  He is due January 16th, 2020.  We found out in late August that our little guy has some complications.  He has a Ventrical Septal Defect (VSD) or a hole in the lower chamber of his heart.  The VSD is the same heart defect Lucy had when she was born.  Her's was repaired at 6 months of age through open-heart surgery.   Our little guy also has the Transposition of the Great Ateries (TGA).  This happens to 1 in 50,000 babies so it is rare.  Your heart has 4 main connections and two of his are switched so that oxygenated blood will flow to his lungs and his body will not get the oxygen it needs once the baby can no longer rely on mom after he takes his first breath.  He will need to be born in the OR and may need an emergency procedure to create a bigger hole in the upper chamber of his heart.  He already has a hole in the upper chamber of his hear called and ASD.  Most babies have this but it typically heals up on its own over time.  We are hoping that baby boy's does not close up and that it is big enough to allow his oxygenated and unoxygenated blood to mix well (then he will no longer need the emergency procedure).   He will likely undergo open heart surgery in his first week of life to repair his VSD and TGA.  He could spend anywhere from 4-6 weeks at the hospital recovering.
We are thankful that all of these defects were discovered early so that he can get the care he needs right from the start!  We are also thankful for the prayers and support we have received from all of you!  We would appreciate continued prayers for strength and healing for our little guy.  We would also appreciate prayers for strength for our family as well as God's presence to surround and guide us through the journey ahead.

"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.  Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me."  -2 Corinthians 12:9
