Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

In the early morning hours of January 16, Avery was accidentally shot in the face by a small caliber, 9mm, rifle.  The group of people he was with acted very fast to get him to the emergency room which saved his life.  Avery lost a very large amount of blood but through transfusions and the care of the ER staff he was stabilized and then transferred to Mercy Hospital St. Louis.  He went straight to emergency surgery in order to stop the bleeding inside of his mouth, tongue, and lower jaw which took several hours.  As of writing this he is doing well and headed down a long road of recovery.  Miraculously, the bullet did not pass through any bone, major arteries, or any upper respiratory tract. The wound is all soft tissue related, including cheek, lower jaw, and tongue.  Prognosis looks good and barring any complications, he can expect a near full recovery.
