In the attempt to spend as much time with my daughter and still keep all friends and family updated thought this journey, I am starting this Caringbridge site. Not many of you know this but i have been struggling with finding answers to my daughters unexplained headaches for a couple months now. No thanks to a certain few doctor we finally found our answers. On March 12th she was brought into the ER by nana and Erik they stayed with her the whole time till she was able to get the MRI done on Monday morning. Results came back with news no mother wants to hear, Ava had a tumor on her brainstem, Surgery was scheduled for Friday March 16th for removal and at that time they will asses of it is cancerous. A few follow up MRI's were done to see if the tumor spread anywhere else in the central nervous system. Unfortunately there is 2 more on here spine. Because of how invasive the surgery would be to remove the spinal tumors and how hard they are to get to they did not touch those. Ava went in for surgery on March 16th at 6:30 AM they had anticipated it taking about 8 hours but it ended up taking 16 hours and 38 minutes. Post surgery we were told the tumors are malignant, which means she will need chemo and radiation, hearing your 4 your old baby has cancer is a tough pill to swallow.
