On Saturday, February 11th, Christine Mantey and her daughter, 5 year old Avalina, were involved in a horrific car accident. Christine, suffered cuts to her face and scalp and bruising to her abdomen and extremities. She was treated and released from the hospital after an overnight stay, but Avalina is still fighting for her life. She is on life support at Children’s hospital with a severe brain injury. The impact was on Avalina’s side of the vehicle. The paramedics were able to cut her out of her car seat and transport her to Children's where she underwent surgery shortly thereafter. Doctors believe she suffered a massive stroke before emergency personnel arrived on the scene. Her primary injuries are to her brain, and she is being kept on a ventilator and sedation. Her brain pressures remain a life threatening concern and she has never awoken since the accident. Avalina is on life support, and has most recently been diagnosed with pneumonia.   We believe in the incredible staff at Children’s and also the power of prayer so if you have time please join us and pray. Many of us are setting alarms or reminders for 3 pm. By many this is considered “Hour Power” or "Holy Hour of Prayer." Another way to show you support is to please wear either pink, purple, or yellow, as those 3 colors are Avalina’s favorite. Please join our storming of heaven with prayers for our sweet little angel Avalina.
