Austin Pfau

Mallory Voit is Brandon's wife and Austin's Sister-in Law. She started a GoFundMe page and shared a great story that speaks to Austin's character. Below is what she started in his name.
"Austin Pfau is my brother in law.  This picture was taken on September 29th, 2013....my wedding day.  Austin was our best man.   After our unity ceremony we signed the marriage certificate with our best man and matron of honor as witness.  Austin after this point became EXTREMELY sweaty, fidgety and visibly uncomfortable. As a bride trying to focus on saying my vows I was more concerned for Austin, who I was sure was moments away from passing out.  It wasn't until after the ceremony that my husband Brandon, Austin's older brother, shared with me that Austin signed our marriage certificate not in the witness section as he was suppose to but in the officiant section. His apparent distress was because he thought he ruined our chance to be an "officially married couple."  Little did he know that this was a minor detail and it didn't really matter.
But that's Austin.  Austin, who cares so much about his family and friends was about to pass out in a church full of 200 people because he thought he had let us down.
If you know Austin you know he is a kind, witty, loyal, quick thinking, fun-loving guy who would go to any lengths to help those he cares about.  His laugh is contagious and uses his humor and witt to amuse himself just as much as he does to entertain others.  You are also aware of his weird obsession with his sneakers. They always have to match his outfit and they can never be scuffed.  A scuffed sneaker could ruin the day.  If you don't know Austin, know that he is a loved and cherished young man.  He looks up to his older brother Brandon and aspires to never disappoint him.  He loves his neice and nephew probably more than anyone else in his life.  Austin is truely a genuine one of a kind guy who loves music and is a linguist with words.  He  can somehow talk people into doing almost anything which only enhances his charm and unique brilliance.   I can only imagine what kinds of things he will talk his future nurses and medical staff into doing for him.
Yesterday, on May 8th Austin was in a motorcycle accident.  He was turning a corner and hit a pot hole, and although he usually always wears a helmet while driving for whatever reason Austin did not have a helmet on during his crash.  He is in critical condition at the St.Cloud Hospital where his prognosis remains unknown.  So far his trauma doctors and neurosurgeons have done everything they can but Austin has severe head trauma and an unknown future.  Austin has recently been down on his luck in life and struggling to find his way.  Consequently he does not have health insurance and the amount of care and medical bills that will result from his accident and hospitalization are unknown.  Right now his team of doctors are predicting months and possibly years of skilled care for Austin.
What we do know is that Austin has a traumatic brain injury, and that his road to recovery is going to be long and difficult for him.  His family is asking for prayers and any donation you can to help cover the medical bills he will incrue and to help with any future expenses that will be needed to help Austin during his recovery.  We will post updates when we get them."
