Hi there! My name is August (or you can call me Augie). I LOVE life, but I did have a bumpy start to life. When I was born I had to be taken to the NICU immediately so they could give make sure I had oxygen to breath since I was blue when I was born and not breathing. I was there for a few days, then got to go home with my mom (Sarah) and dad (Jacob)! After a few days though, the doctors noticed I had a heart murmur and I got checked out and they found out I had CHD: a VSD and an ASD (later found pulmonary stenosis & pulmonary hypertension occurred too). Fast forward a few days, and I went into heart failure and needed to take a trip up to Children’s National because of my lil’ ticker. They took great care of me in the NICU (2nd time’s a charm), got my oxygen back up, and gave me some medicine to help with the fluid in my lungs. Since then, I’ve been seeing a pediatric cardiologist, keeping up with regular visits to my pediatrician, and doing weekly weight checks to make sure I am growing well. Eating was hard for me for a while, but I got a little better at it as I got a bit older. But now, the doctors decided it’s time to fix those holes in my heart since they are starting to affect my growth.

SO! In early September (date to come), I will be having open heart surgery to repair my heart defects. I will have a cool scar, but some people like to call them zippers ❤️‍🩹

Will you pray for me that everything goes smoothly, and that I recover quickly? Mom & dad know that God’s hands are big, and He can do anything.

More updates coming soon!
