Welcome to Ashlyn’s page..

Ashlyn was born on Feb 17, 2004 in Duluth MN and then we moved to Seattle Wa. She wasn’t meeting  baby developmental milestones so off we went to see her pediatrician. Ashlyn started  physical therapy, appointments  to children’s of Seattle  where made and blood work was done. Ashlyn received the diagnosis of a rare chromosome disorder. Inverted duplicate of chromosome number 1.... I was told that it was very rare and the children who have this chromosome disorder the mothers normally have a  miscarriage and that Ashlyn was very lucky.  I also was told that Ashlyn would be making her own path and may not walk or talk... Boy did she prove them wrong.....  Being a strong willed child. Ashlyn has chosen to conquer everything thing that is thrown her way...

Ashlyn had been  diagnosed with scoliosis and in the last 2 years Ashlyn’s curve in her back has gone from 20 degree to a 62 degree curve. We met with Ashlyn’s  scoliosis surgeon and as you can see in her x-ray it was time to fix her  scoliosis by putting two metal rods in her back. We had waited as long as we could. The surgery is January 31st, 2019 at  Gillette children’s of St. Paul.

Ashlyn also had been  diagnosed with a vascular ring by the cardiologist about five years ago.  A vascular ring Is a rare heart  malformation in which a vascular ring  wraps around  trachea or esophagus restricting  airflow.  This condition  is life threatening and requires intricate surgery. She had an MRI done and at that time the vascular ring was not a issue but in the last 9 months she has had  pneumonia 4 times...  We met with the  cardiologist last week and her newest MRI showed the vascular ring was now a  issue and needed to be taken care of before the scoliosis surgery.  Surgery has been set for the vascular ring on  December 20, 2018 at Children’s Hospital of Minneapolis.  Ashlyn will be in the ICU at children’s for 3 to 5 days.

We ask that you keep Ashlyn in your thoughts and prayers. I have set up this site because Ashlyn loves so many people and thought this would be the best way to keep everyone posted..
