Dear Family and Friends,
Thank you all for your love and support for Ashley. She knows she is loved by so many, and all that you do helps to make her day better. I know many of you are concerned, so I've created this site to keep you all informed.
As of the beginning of July, she has been officially diagnosed with gastroparesis (paralyzed stomach), vasovagal syncope (fainting disorder), and dysautonomia (nervous system disorder). Each of these on their own are severe and debilitating, but do not cover all of her symptoms. We are still in the testing and diagnosing stage, as we and the doctors suspect there is even more going on.
Ashley's story began when she was taken by ambulance following a fainting episode. Since then, her symptoms have progressed rapidly and include:
fainting/near fainting
drastic drop in blood pressure
chest pain
shortness of breath
dizziness
confusion/disorientation
extreme fatigue
narcoleptic sleep
headaches/migraines
Severe abdominal pain
vomiting
numbness in arm and leg
eye pain
Difficulty swallowing
Loss of voice
Feeling like something is stuck in her throat
Constant uti symptoms
Short and long term memory loss
Brain fog
She is currently seeing a cardiologist, neurologist, pulmonologist, endocrinologist, geneticist, dysautonomia specialist, and a psychologist.
Ashley is too sick for school now and spends most of her day in bed. At the moment, she has very little relief of her symptoms and the medicines she is given do not seem to be helping much. She does have some good days and some good moments, so definitely check out her Facebook and Instagram to see pics of those times!
