Ashley Blackburn

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Ashley and Chad were scooting to a friend's house on the friend's golf cart on Saturday, May 16th.  We all know that Ashley is a little bit height challenged so she had to sit way up in the seat to reach the pedals (she was driving).  Although she took a corner nice and slow, without the support of the back of the seat, she felt herself start to slide out of the golf cart!  She put her foot onto the ground to catch her and the ground literally ate her ankle.  Chad rushed her to the emergency room where the doctors performed emergency surgery to save her ankle and foot.  The surgeon was able to place a bar on the outside of Ashley's leg and screw it into the bones to keep the joint secure until her next surgery on Thursday, May 21st.

Friends, these two major surgeries are just the beginning of Ashley's journey to a full recovery.  She could face even more surgery (we will know more tomorrow), intensive physical therapy, and 12 weeks of bed rest at a minimum.  The days of her delighting us with a story and a smile at Firehouse 52 are on hold, for now.  She needs our help as the medical bills are already presenting a hardship - one that we could generously help her with.  Please consider a donation to her medical expenses.  We all want to see her up and about and back to having fun!
