On May 11th Ashleigh’s water broke, at 29 weeks, 4 days gestation. After two ambulance rides and a helicopter ride to St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN, Ashleigh will be staying until the baby is ready to be born or Ashleigh shows signs of an infection. Currently baby is doing really well, and Ashleigh has not had regular contractions or any pain.
On May 26th Ashleigh was induced to a suspected placental infection from having her amniotic fluid broken for two weeks, so the doctors decided to induce her. On May 27th at 12:49 a.m. Miles Thomas Wappler was born, weighing 4lbs 2oz, and measuring 17.5 inches long. After a lengthy 25 day stay in the NICU where he had to learn to breathe on his own, regulate his body temperature, and learn to eat from a bottle, he was allowed to go home! Here is the story of Miles Thomas.
If anyone cares to donate to the family to help cover the costs of medical bills incurred from a two week antepartum stay, the birth, the emergency transportation, medical bills regarding Miles’ 25 day NICU stay, or the costs incurred from having to stay in Duluth for six weeks please check out this website here :
