Lorne Haase A Rally For Lorne

First post: Jul 5, 2022 Latest post: Jul 14, 2022
Welcome to our CaringBridge website, to rally and support Lorne Haase. The family is using this site to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support, comments, and words of hope, we’ll share these with Lorne and Carol. Please share this link, we’d very much appreciate it.

Lorne was diagnosed on Monday, June 27 2022 with Acute Leukemia. A serious illness. It seems surreal we are gathered today working through this. We understand the uncertainty and disbelief, we’re right there with you. Lorne suffered briefly from Covid in May, but symptoms lingered that seemed unrelated. Carol nursed him back to health and Lorne powered through. His primary care physician kept running tests, an advocate we will always be grateful for, and reviewing his labs late June he directed Lorne and Carol back to the ER at Cadillac Hosptial where the diagnosis was made.

Lorne spent a brief time at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hosptal in Grand Rapids for more extensive testing with Carol and Jim by his side. The skilled doctors and exceptional staff in the Oncology unit deserve high praise for the truly remarkable care they provide, everyone was so kind. After much thought and careful consideration Lorne decided home was the best place in the world he wanted to be so arrangements were made. We’re thankful for Alan Devereaux and all who managed our transition home. Kerstin, Anthony, Eric rallied together, welcoming Papa home and Missy was happy Pappa was home by her side again.

We are all at Lorne & Carol’s home in Harrietta, Michigan caring for Lorne with the support of Hospice of Michigan.

We know this is unbelievable news, and we share in the heartache with much love. We are not sure of a lot of things but there is hope and a confidence in our hearts that Lorne knows he is loved, he’s surrounded by it. We have rallied around Lorne, sharing messages of kind words from those near and far. His grandchildren are here keeping his spirits high with the stories they tell. Lorne is keeping Jimmy busy with projects that this man has done daily around this property for many years. We have quiet moments too, but we continue to stay positive, grateful for our time together.

If you would like to send a card or leave a chat below we’ll be sure to share them with Lorne and Carol as we continue our rally for Lorne, respecting the life and loving the man who means so much to us.

With love, God bless.

Kerstin Haase

Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh the me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
